I was lucky enough to be taken on a tour of the incredible kitchen garden at Heronswood in Dromana, on the Mornington Peninsula.
If you have even just a teeny weeny vegetable garden, or plans for one, you really should visit this property. There’s a lovely bluestone historic home, which houses a cafe, where the menu is based around whatever is plentiful in the kitchen garden, so super fresh. Then there’s the array of produce growing, including these crazy gourds. Actually, the hanging ones are called Trombone Squash, and when they’re not too big, they are delicious.
The property is the home of Diggers Seeds, and you can buy seeds to grow pretty much any heirloom variety of any vegetable or fruit you can think of, and then more.
I really recommend visiting Heronswood, there is also their truly magnificent gardens surrounding the historic home, so lovely for a walk, and only a couple of minutes from Dromana pier.
